Sconces, or wall sconces if you prefer, are a very popular lighting fixture with models designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Wall sconces generally don't jut out too far from a wall, like wall lamps can, and are usually fixed in a single position. They can be uplights or downlights, and some designs can even be mounted in either position. This feature just adds to the sconce's versatility. Sconces work well in almost any room, but are ideal for halls and entryways, and can even work well in dining rooms.
And finally, we come to the largest, and most expensive type of flush mount lighting. We are now talking about those fixtures that are typically found in the main living spaces, or perhaps a den. These fixtures are among the most stylish of all, and of course need to be among the most powerful as they are lighting the largest spaces in most homes. This type of light can cost from $75 up to a couple of hundred dollars. It just depends on style and size as to what the final price will be.
In some cases spot lights are also used to bring attention to specific areas of the living room such as the loop created by sofa sets around the TV unit. Corner end tables that come with a living room set are good for creating a platform for decorative lampshades that will lit the entire sofa set area for some extra lighting.
